Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, this position is a first point of contact located at the front desk in the Financial Aid and Scholarship office at De Anza College.
The position will involve a high volume of contact with students and the general public.
In addition to the general tasks listed below, the incumbent will also be required to retrieve voicemail from the general office number; the incumbent will need to return calls and answer questions accordingly or determine if the call/message will need to be mailed to one of the financial aid staff for further assistanceDEFINITION:
Under the direction of an assigned manager, perform a variety of general clerical tasks.
EXAMPLE OF tasks AND Job responsibilities:
Depending upon assignment, tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:
» Perform various clerical tasks related to an assigned program or function such as compiling information from a variety of sources; communicate with other departments to provide or obtain information. » Receive and screen phone calls and visitors and direct inquiries and visitors to the proper person or office; provide information concerning policies and procedures of assigned program or office according to established guidelines. » Prepare schedules and communicate with others regarding meetings, appointments or other activities; create documents, packets, forms or other materials for meetings as assigned. » Prepare letters, memos, forms and other correspondence as requested; screen and route incoming and outgoing mail. » Prepare, format, type, proofread and duplicate a variety of records, reports or related materials; maintain files. » Operate a computer, assigned software systems and other office equipment. » Order and maintain office supplies as necessary. » Provide work direction and guidance to student employees and other staff as assigned. » Perform related tasks as assigned.

*economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, discapability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff. » Perform a variety of responsible and technical clerical tasks in support of an assigned program or function. » Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures. » Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. » Compile and verify data for the preparation of reports. » Operate a computer and related office equipment. » Meet schedules and time lines. » Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. » Type at 40 words net per minute from clear copy.
MINIMUM Appropriate qualifications:
